Have your say about the way firewood is collected from Victoria's public land

18 Aug 09

Firewood collected from Victoria's public land is an important and affordable source of heating and energy for many people and generates income for regional communities.

So it's vital that firewood collected from public land remains available to Victorians, on a sustainable basis into the future.

This is why the Department of Sustainability and Environment is developing a state-wide firewood strategy for public land.

The strategy will outline Victoria's plan to improve the way we manage firewood collected from public land, balancing the needs of local communities with the health of the environment.

Submissions are the main way that individuals and organisations can contribute to the development of Victoria's Firewood Strategy for Public Land.

There are three ways you can respond to the discussion paper and make a submission.

1. By email Firestrat.Publicland@dse.vic.gov.au

2. Complete an online questionnaire about firewood use and the Discussion Paper.

3. Written submissions and hardcopy questionnaires can be posted to:

Firewood Strategy - Discussion Paper Submission
Department of Sustainability and Environment

The closing date for submissions is 23 September 2009.
