Number of parade entries down but Lunarfest success

Saturday, 20 March 2010 06:46

A slightly smaller street procession did not deter attendances at the annual Red Cliffs Lunarfest on Saturday.

Street parade co-ordinator for the event Betty Krake of the Red Cliffs Nexus Club said that the parade had gone without a hitch.

Because there was no marching band available this year, the sound system provided marching music - a concept  which had also been used at the Fireman's torchlight procession at Mildura earlier in the month. The award for the best float went to the Nangiloc and Red Cliffs Kindergarten, while the Mildura and District Vintage Vehicles Club also won a float award. The best group section category was taken out by the Red Cliffs Probus Club. The club is open to all retired people from the Red Cliffs area and meets on the second Thursday of each month at 10.30 am at the Red Cliffs Club The street parade comprised 22 floats and was led by Police and Fire Brigade and included a number of groups and organisations, including local schools. The parade was followed by an afternoon of entertainment from the stage at Barclay Square.
