The Nationals' Member for Mildura Peter Crisp has congratulated the Nangiloc-ColignanPrimary School on being launched into the Schools First Program.

"I was delighted to be part of the morning coverage at the School by Channel Seven's ‘Sunrise' program, as the hard work and entrepreneurial spirit was acknowledged by a live cross hosted by weather reporter and celebrity Fifi Box.

"Under the expert guidance of principal Mr Eric Wright, the school has utilised the local area's citrus heritage to enter the Schools First Program by building on their long-running citrus juice ice-block enterprise in their Canteen.

"It has to be noted that this enterprise would not be the success that it is without the full support of the local community and local businesses."

In terms of support for the Schools First Program, local support has been generous and has included the Murray Valley Citrus Board.

"It is fantastic for national acknowledgement be paid to a small, but determined and committed school such as Nangiloc-Colignan Primary," Mr Crisp concluded.

Fifi was to have presented the weather on Wednesday morning but a storm on Tuesday cut roads, forcing the TV crew to delay the visit until Thursday morning. Nine year old pupil Ricki Flint became an instant hit at reading the weather as part of the morning National TV show seen on the Channel Seven network.

So Fifi arrived a day late and that added to the excitement for the pupils of Nangiloc and Colignan Primary School. Nine year old pupil Ricki Flint (pictured) got to read the weather Thursday with Fifi on National Television. The segment was seen locally on Prime TV.
