MILDURA will get its first taste of the big screen when filming begins on the district's first feature-length film in October.
A casting call will go out far and wide for extras and crew later in the year, with the main crew arriving in mid-October and filming to begin on November 9.
The movie, A Summer Coda, is a romantic drama and will boast several Australian stars including Angus Sampson (Kokoda and regular appearances on TV show Thank God You're Here), Cassandra Magrath (Wolf Creek) and Nathan Phillips (Wolf Creek, Balibo).
Director Richard Gray, who is in the region all weekend scouting locations, said he was thrilled to finally get the movie up here.
"It's a romantic drama set in the citrus blocks of Colignan, but locations also include Merbein, Trentham Cliffs, Wentworth, Stefano's restaurant and Nangiloc.
"There are many more actors to announce, but we're just doing a bit of a slow release campaign with them all."
Mr Gray said it had taken a lot of work to get the film up here for the duration of the shoot.
